PREP GOLF: Wayne Christian's Roberts takes 2nd

Wayne Christian's Karsyn Roberts finished runner-up for medalist honors with a nine-hole round of 42 during a multi-team meet contested at Lane Tree Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
A sixth-grader, Roberts helped the Eagles win the team portion with a three-player score of 149 -- one stroke lower than North Johnston. Grace Buddin and Bri Verme logged rounds of 47 and 60, respectively, for WCS.
Charles B. Aycock senior Abby Sauls ended up third in the medalist race with a 46. Leah Campbell and Savannah Strickland each turned in a 54 for the Golden Falcons.
Rosewood took fifth with Briyanna Sutton (57), Grace Smith (64) and Rebecca Dunham (69) on the course.
