Goldsboro's Jyrei Thompson and Wayne Christian's Paige Court each emerged victorious during a non-conference dual-team meet ran at Stoney Creek Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Thompson clocked the fastest boys' time in 20 minutes, 10 seconds. It was his second individual victory of the season.
Court posted a first-place effort of 24:04 among the girls. The Cougars' Landry Harrell took second in 24:16, while multi-sport standout T'ziah Kelly seized third in 26:22.
"We have some really strong new runners such as Isaiah Wilder and Christian Bullock, and our veterans like T'ziah look better than ever," GHS coach Stephanie Orosco said.
