Emily Newsome turned in a solid all-around effort during Eastern Wayne's 25-12, 25-13, 25-10 loss to perennial independent schools powerhouse Parrott Academy on Tuesday.
The senior collected four kills, four assists and eight digs -- all team highs.
Alana Kazar provided two kills. Demiya Yelverton served a pair of aces.
"We played the toughest team on our schedule," EW head coach Anna Hajjar said. "Coach Barnes is my mentor. (We) are already there athletically, but we need to become seasoned volleyball players to close the gap. Most of the time it is the other way around. APA is a very strategic team and relies on not just their kills, but their serving game and passing game.
"It was tough to get through the cracks but we will see what happens next time."
