Case Kermode and Amane Godo combined for a two-hitter as Wayne Country Day defeated North Lenoir Green, 5-2, in the nightcap of their Eastern Carolina Baseball League doubleheader Tuesday evening.
Kermode yielded two earned runs on two hits and four walks, and sat down seven Hawks on strikeouts in 3-plus innings of work. Godo notched the save with 1 1/3 innings of no-hit scoreless relief.
Offensively, Kermode mashed a pair of home runs during his 2-for-2, three-RBI effort at the plate. Will White contributed two hits and drove in a run.
Avery Browning, Godo and Jaxon Anderson (RBI) provided one hit apiece.
North Lenoir pounded out 14 hits and capitalized on five WCDS defensive miscues during its 16-5 mercy-rule win in the opener.
Anderson emerged as the Chargers' top offensive leader with two hits and an RBI. Kermode (RBI), Browning and L. Lewis each logged one hit.
Godo took the loss.
Wayne Country Day concludes regular-season play today with a doubleheader at Charles B. Aycock. First pitch is 5 p.m. at Charles Davis Field.
