BASEBALL: Cougars lose close match to Jones Senior

Goldsboro dropped a heartbreaking, 9-8 loss to Jones Senior on Monday.
The game went nine innings. Josh Hartsfield led the Cougars with a 4-for-5 effort. Michael Eltz went 3-5, Brody Morton went 2-4 and Matthew Lewis went 2-5. Cameron Roux and Chandler Patrick each went 1-for-5. The Cougars started five freshmen and two sophomores.
The Cougars lost 11-1 to Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday. Morton had two hits while Hartsfield and Patrick had one apiece.
Goldsboro (3-17, 1-8 ECC) hosts Greene Central today.
