PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools

JV

* Baseball: Rosewood 6, Lakewood 2 -- Tanner Capps doubled twice in three official at-bats during the Eagles' victory in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday afternoon. Wyatt Searles (RBI), DeVante Phillips (RBI), Connor Wise (RBI), Will Albert, Spencer Riggs, Tanner McKeel, Logan Price and Patrick Jones provided one hit apiece. Albert and McKeel combined for a two-hitter and 14 strikeouts on the mound.

* Softball: C.B. Aycock 12, North Johnston 2 (5 inn.) -- Brooke Price cranked out two hits and Anna Bartlett doubled during the Golden Falcons' mercy-rule win. CBA had six hits as a team. Marie Kidd emerged as the winning pitcher. She limited the Panthers to five hits and posted seven strikeouts inside the circle.

Middle schools

* Baseball: Mount Olive 3, Spring Creek 1 -- Gage Outlaw emerged as the Chargers' offensive leader with three hits and two RBI. Ryan Norton contributed two hits and scored all three runs. Outlaw hurled a complete-game, three-hitter on the bump and logged six strikeouts. Mount Olive (3-1 overall) visits Grantham on March 27.

* Baseball: Norwayne 10, Wayne School of Engineering 2 -- Four Norwayne pitchers combined 12 strikeouts, and Austin Booth earned the victory on the mound. Drew Spencer singled, tripled and scored a pair of runs for the Cobras. Dennis Daingerfield (RBI), DJ Madrigal (RBI), Brett Forbis, SJ Harris, Clay Matthews and Mason Bailey each provided a hit.

* Girls' soccer: Norwayne 4, Wayne School of Engineering 0 -- Haley Martin collected two goals and an assist for the Cobras. Annabelle Watkins and Kayla Spier each tallied a goal. Brianna Casey and Courtney Williams each provided an assist. Norwayne goalie Macy Montague recorded one save. The Cobras (3-0-0 overall) entertain Grantham on Monday.
