WILSON -- Hayden Neilsen notched the eventual game-winning goal in the second minute as Wayne Country Day rolled past Faith Christian-Rocky Mount, 5-0, during The Brittany on Friday evening.
Eight minutes later, Neilsen assisted Ally Willman on her first goal of the season. Langley Barnes, Willman and Barnes each added additional first-half goals for the Chargers.
Ashton Gupton provided one assist.
"We started very well in the first half, and forced the other team on the back foot and didn't let them settle," Chargers head coach Steve Ellis said. "An early goal in the first game of the season helps calms nerves and we pushed on after that. It was good we got minutes for the whole team, and we hope to build on this as we move forward."
WCDS (1-0-0 overall) visits Neuse Christian on Tuesday.
