ROCKY MOUNT -- C.B. Aycock's Trevor Holt turned his season-opening meet into a regional-qualifying affair Wednesday afternoon.
The senior recorded a first-place throw of 138 feet, 9 inches in the discus; and set a new school record of 51-1 in the shot put in the N.C. Runners Tour #2 Invitational held at Rocky Mount High School. Both marks surpassed the regional standards set by the N.C. High School Athletic Association.
Deshawn Owens established a new school record with a sterling first-place performance in the 1,600-meter run (4 minutes, 44 seconds). He secured fourth in the 800 run and ran the opening leg on the meet-winning 3,200 relay that included John Parrish, Keontai Taylor and David McIver. The foursome turned in a time of 8:57.
Kamarion Graham placed second in the 100-meter dash (11.33), 200-meter dash (23.14) and helped CBA grab second in the 400-meter relay. He was joined by Tahj Thacker, Tayquan Hampton and Mo Brooks.
