BASEBALL: Hawks strike out 13, take down Warriors

La GRANGE -- Dylan Meyer and Reed Parris combined for 13 strikeouts as North Lenoir defeated Eastern Wayne, 9-4, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

Meyer held the Warriors hitless and logged four strikeouts in two innings of work. Parris gave up four earned runs and filed nine strikeouts during his five-inning appearance.

Landon Ginn (RBI), Tanner Wells (RBI) and Andrew Fricks each had one hit for the Warriors. Wells stole three bases, while Fricks and Drew Barnes each had one stolen base.

Ginn took the mound loss. He yielded six runs (four earned) on five hits, struck out four and walked three in four-plus innings. Nathan Bell threw 11/3 innings of one-hit, three-strikeout relief.

EW fell to 0-2 this season.
