GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Eagles advance to conference semifinals

WARSAW -- The Rosewood Lady Eagles opened the Carolina 1-A Conference tournament in a big way by defeating Lakewood 55-22.
The Lady Eagles were led by sophomore Braylee Butts who posted 18 points, six rebounds, two assists & five steals. Senior Payton Lane added 13 points, three assists and four steals. Senior forward Nekia Williams recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
The Eagles' bench contributed nine points from seniors Kendall Gurley & Jessica Conger.
The Lady Eagles (14-10) play Neuse Charter in the semifinals on Thursday. The game will be contested at North Duplin.
