GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Bulldogs ease past Rebels

PRINCETON -- Jazmaine McCain scored 12 points and secured seven rebounds as Princeton High overpowered North Duplin, 48-18, in opening-round play of the varsity girls' Carolina 1-A Conference tournament on Monday night at Deacon Jones Gymnasium.
The victory moved PHS to 19-4 on the season.
In control from the outset, Princeton deployed its entire roster in what proved to be a dominant-in-all-phases triumph.
Emily Ricks notched eight points for the Bulldogs, and was joined in the scorebook by junior Hayden Hinson, who tallied seven points in the paint.
Freshman guard Michaela Radford logged five points, while Reanna Braswell and Takiria Cummings filed four points apiece. Cummings also crashed the glass for a quartet of rebounds.
North Duplin (0-21) was paced by Tori Jones, who scored six points. Brooke Cottle add five points and grabbed three rebounds. Junior Alyssa Santos scored four points and snagged four caroms.
Princeton continues play Wednesday at North Duplin High with a second-round matchup versus Spring Creek. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
