PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's journey in the NCHSAA 3-A dual-team wrestling playoffs ended with an opening-round, 60-22 loss to Gray's Creek on Tuesday evening.
"Our opponents drove 90 minutes, yet it was us that seemed tired and half asleep," CBA head coach Brian Doyle said. "Our message before the match was simple: win the matches we should and do not lose by pinfall. Stay off your back. Every point matters in the playoffs."
The Golden Falcons yielded seven pins, two forfeits and dropped their last match due to injury. Chris Parks needed three stitches to close a cut over one of his eyes.
Tyler Hughes, James Reser, Austin Doyle and Joshua Wallace accounted for Aycock's points.
Doyle's team ended the year 18-10 overall. CBA dropped its seventh consecutive opening-round playoff match and is 17-20-1 all-time in the postseason since 1996.
