GIRLS' BASKETBALL: WCDS downs Wilmington Christian

WILMINGTON -- The Wayne Country Day varsity girls returned from Christmas break in fine form on Wednesday, defeating Wilmington Christian 58-37 at the Cape Fear Academy Holiday Basketball Challenge.
Jala Holloman led the Chargers with 28 points, five assists and five steals. Lillian Freeman registered a double-double by going for 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lexi Jeffreys contributed eight points.
"The girls played well and knocked some rust off the Christmas holiday," head coach David Flowers said, "It was good to see us get out and play so well and scoring in transition."
Now 9-5 on the season, WCDS next faces Cape Fear Academy this evening at 7 p.m.
