* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 48, Goldsboro 38 -- Jacari Outlaw tallied 15 points during the Golden Falcons' opening-round win over Goldsboro in the Southern Wayne JV Christmas Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. AliJuan Moore tallied nine points, followed by Jaylan Robinson with eight. Goldsboro's top scorers were Jyrei Thompson (19 points) and Tyjuwan Barnes (10). The Golden Falcons (7-3 overall) face Southern Wayne in the championship game today. Tip-off is 7 p.m. in Dudley.
* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 29, Goldsboro 27 -- Morgan Casey led a balanced offensive attack with eight points for the Golden Falcons during the Southern Wayne JV Christmas Tournament on Wednesday. Heaven Tatum and Sharon Moorefield collected six points apiece. Jenna Oliver chipped in five points, while Taylor Gay scored four.
