Rosewood had two extra meets under its belt.

Its county bethren hadn't hit the pool for live competition since the Thanksgiving break.

The layoff didn't seem to matter.

Four swimmers logged either regional or state-meet qualifying times in a warm B.G. Darden Natatorium pool Friday evening.

Rosewood's Jack Lyon added two more regional events with first-place efforts in the 100-yard butterfly (59.27) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.02). Lyon also swam legs on the Eagles' 200 medley and 200 free relays that have posted consideration times this season.

He was joined by Damon Merritt, Dalton Ira and Owen Blevins.

Wayne Country Day junior Zan Pittman posted first-place and state-qualifying marks in the 200 free (1:53.34) and 500 free (5:08.45). Pittman is eligible to compete in four events during the season-ending N.C. Independent School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A state finals.

Freshman Jazmin Jones added another regional-qualifying time to her resume. She emerged victorious in the 50 free in 25.93 seeconds -- more than a minute faster than the east regional AQ time.

Goldsboro's Anna Breck continued her impressive season with two regional marks -- the 100 free (59.82) and 100 back (1:06.52). Breck has qualified in four regional events.

Breck, Anna Prezbindowski, Megan Huston and Navia Dixit claimed first in the 200 medley relay in 2:19.15. The same foursome turned in a first-place effort in the 200 free relay.

Prezbindowski touched the wall first in the 100 fly and the 200 individual medley (IM), while Huston won the 200 free.

Rosewood's Rebecca Fitzmaurice took the 500 free and 100 yard back.

Eastern Wayne's quartet of Amina Becirovic, Mariah Youngblood, Emily Ames and CC Hickman emerged victorious in the 400 free relay.

"I'm incredibly impressed with the progress the girls have made in just five weeks of swimming," said EW girls' head coach Vince Beasley. "Almost every time was an improvement over the last meet. Winning a meet hasn't happened in a while, and I hope this win will motivate the girls to continue to work hard."

The county teams return to the pool Dec. 16.
