VOLLEYBALL: Bartlett-Yancey stops Goldsboro in 5 sets

YANCEYVILLE -- Becca Pittard recorded a double-double -- 15 kills, 12 digs -- in her last prep game as Goldsboro dropped a season-ending 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 12-25, 8-15 decision the Bartlett-Yancey in the opening round of the NCHSAA 2-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
"It was a good one. They really played their butts off, but you could tell we were tired in those last two sets. We had nothing left," said GHS head coach TJ Lancaster, whose team hadn't played a live match in 20 days.
Jacquiera Braswell contributed eight kills and three solo blocks. Makayla Roberts provided eight kills and a career-high 11 blocks. Dakota Jones emerged as the defensive leader with 23 digs.
Riley Howell handed out 28 assists for the Cougars, who concluded the year 12-9 overall.
