PITTSBORO -- Alyssa Jackson pounded out seven kills and logged two solo blocks as Eastern Wayne endured a season-ending 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 loss to Northwood in opening-round action of the NCHSAA 3-A state playoffs Wednesday evening.
Emily Newsome added six kills.
"(I saw) moments that reflected the extra mile they had to work to get to where they are now," EW head coach Anna Hajjar said. "We are losing three starting seniors. We will have to make adjustments, but I cannot wait for next season."
