GIRLS' TENNIS: C.B. Aycock trips up Greenfield

WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock emerged victorious on five of six singles courts and upended Greenfield, 8-1, on the final day of the inaugural Wilson Cup contested at Barton College.
The Golden Falcons won two of three singles matches in tie-breaking fashion. Top-seeded Meredith Jones overcame an opening-set loss to defeat the Knights' Avery Vest 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9). Fifth-seeded Lauren Smith pulled off a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) comeback at No. 5 singles.
Grayson Lane, Haley Creech and Abbie Shackleford also picked up a singles point. Creech and Shackleford each posted a 6-0, 6-0 decision over their respective opponent.
CBA swept the doubles.
The Golden Falcons (2-1 overall) travel to Fike on Tuesday and open the home portion of their 2016 schedule Wednesday against county rival Rosewood. Both matches begin at 4 p.m.
