Kinston Post 43 advanced to semifinal-round play of the 2016 Area I East Division tournament with an 8-7 triumph over pesky Ahoskie Post 102 on Wednesday evening.
Fifth-seeded Kinston begins play Friday at regular-season co-champion Pitt County Post 39. Game 1 in the best-of-five series is Friday at 7 p.m. at the Minges Overton Complex on the Pitt Community College campus.
In the other semifinal, second-seeded Wayne County Post 11 (14-7 overall) entertains third-seeded -- and arch nemesis -- Wilson Post 13. Game time is 7 p.m. at Scarborough Field on the University of Mount Olive campus.
The teams split their two-game series with each winning on the other team's home field.
Post 13 eliminated Post 11 in the Area I East Division championship series a year ago, and finished 1-2 in the season-ending N.C. Senior American Legion state tournament. Post 13 suffered two mercy-rule losses.
