2016 Final regular-season standings
Wayne County 11-3; Pitt County 11-3; Wilson 10-4; Ahoskie 7-7; West Craven 6-7; Kinston 6-7; Edenton 3-10; Farmville Central 0-13
The Area I East Division playoffs launch today with Kinston traveling to Ahoskie for game 1 in their best-of-three series. The winner faces top-seeded Pitt County in a best-of-5 semifinal-round matchup. Pitt is the No. 1 seed by virtue of its regular-season sweep of Wayne County Post 11.
Wayne County is the No. 2 seed and will play host to third-seeded Wilson. Game 1 in the best-of-five series is Friday at 7 p.m. at Scarborough Field on the University of Mount Olive campus. The teams split their regular-season series, each winning on the other team's field. Both games were decided by one run.
The East Division champ automatically qualifies for the season-ending state tournament.
