The seven-run cushion was more than enough for Post 11 hurler Jonathan Peacock. The Rosewood product retired the first 13 batters he faced and posted five zeroes on the scoreboard before Jernigan took over in the seventh.
Peacock and Jernigan combined for a six-hitter.
WC's defense did not commit an error.
Kinston slipped to 6-6 overall, including a 5-6 ledger against Area I East opposition this season. Post 11 earned a regular-season sweep of Post 43.
Wayne County, which prevailed in 10 of its last 11 outings, returns home today for its regular-season finale against nemesis Wilson Post 13. Weather permitting, first pitch is 7 p.m. at Scarborough Field on the University of Mount Olive campus.
