ECBL: Gators pick up mercy-rule win over Rebels

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Landon Smothers and Levi Miller combined for a one-hitter on the mound, and Spring Creek handed North Duplin a 13-1 mercy-rule loss in Eastern Carolina Baseball League action.
Smothers threw a no-hitter through four innings and retired four ND batters on strikeouts. Miller tossed the fifth inning.
Jensen Barwick (RBI), Christian Yarborough (two RBI), Matt Dupuy and Kaden Geelen (two RBI) cranked out two hits apiece. Casey Whitfield doubled and drove in a run. Jordan Ammon connected on a triple and logged an RBI.
Weather permitting, Spring Creek (8-5 overall) is the guest of Charles B. Aycock White today. First pitch is 6 p.m. at Charles Davis Field.
