Timothy Decatur-Luker is headed back to the Fargo Nationals -- a prestigious event that showcases some of the nation's best cadet and junior wrestlers.
A rising sophomore at Rosewood, Decatur-Luker has experienced a busy offseason. The 106-pounder emerged as the runner-up in the greco and freestyle portions of the Tar Heel Classic -- one of several national-qualifying tournaments that was contested in April.
In mid-May, Decatur-Luker grappled in another competition -- the greco/freestyle state tournament. He finished third in freestyle and duplicated the result during the Southeast Regional.
Decatur-Luker punched his ticket to Fargo due to the top-three efforts in each tournament.
He is currently the starting 106-pounder on the North Carolina squad, which is competing in York, Pa. He took second in greco and also wrestled in the freestyle bracket.
Undoubtedly one of the top prep wrestlers returning next season, Decatur-Luker has received an invitation to join the USA National Cadet Team.
Rosewood won the 2016 N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A dual-team and individual team championships this past winter. Decatur-Luker earned the match-clinching points to secure the Eagles' dual-team title -- the first in school and Wayne County history.
