Princeton's Hawley notches hat trick

HENDERSON -- Chelsea Hawley notched a hat trick (three goals) as Princeton hammered Oxford Prep, 9-0, in opening-round play of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (10-7-1 overall) oppose either two-time Carolina 1-A Conference Spring Creek or River Mill Academy in the next round. Those two teams play today in Seven Springs.
Maddie Adkins and Emily Woodward provided two goals apiece. HaydenHinson, Rachel Creech and Amber Johnson each posted one goal.
Woodward, Creech and Johnson each dished out an assist.
Princeton's Hannah Horne recorded three saves in goal. The Bulldogs logged their ninth shutout of the season.
