GREENVILLE -- Freshman Mackenzie Bryan threw her first no-hitter in varsity competition as Southern Wayne blanked J.H. Rose, 12-0, in a five-inning Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game Wednesday evening.
Bryan recorded four strikeouts inside the circle. Offensively, she batted 3-for-4 at the plate. University of Mount Olive signee Kelsey Hayes slapped a home run and connected on a triple during a 3-for-4 effort.
Amber Pfennig and Dawn Anderson contributed two hits.
Southern Wayne travels to South Central on Friday, and plays host to Eastern Wayne next Monday.
