Rebels prevail in second straight PK match

CALYPSO -- For the second time in a three-day period, North Duplin defeated a Carolina 1-A Conference opponent in a sudden-death penalty-kick shootout.
Darlene Martinez notched the decisive goal as the Rebels turned back county rival James Kenan, 1-0, at H.E. Grubbs Field on Thursday evening.
The teams battled to a scoreless draw in regulation and a 2-2 deadlock after the first PK phase. Joanna Flores and Kendy Rangel scored the Rebels' goals.
Martinez, the ND goalie, polished off the Tigers in the sudden-death PK phase.
