* Baseball: Charles B. Aycock 13, Eastern Wayne 0 (5 inn.) -- Four Charles B. Aycock pitchers combined for a three-hitter. Nick Aycock threw the first two innings. Caleb Matthews and Trey Smith tossed the third and fourth inning, respectively. Blake Gipson threw the fifth and claimed the mound win. Sophomore Cody Whaley emerged as the Golden Falcons' offensive spark with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. Luke Frederick (two RBI), Carson Smitherman (two RBI), Kaleb Moore and Gipson (two RBI) cranked out two hits apiece. Matthews (RBI), Jordan Gay (two RBI) and Zack Brewer each contributed one hit.
Middle schools
* Girls' soccer: Dillard 1, Eastern Wayne 0 -- Dyamond George tallied the Tigers' lone goal off an assist from Coreyanna Smith. Goalkeeper Octavia Burns was credited with the shutout. Dillard (7-3-1 overall) is the guest of Norwayne on Monday.
• Girls' soccer: Greenwood 8, Mount Olive -- Aaliyah Mabry had the hat trick (three goals) for the T-Birds. Amaya Labella punched in two goals. Aleesha Boyette, Karley Daigle and Rachel Babbitt each had one goal. Greenwood (7-1-1 overall visits Rosewood on Monday.
