FAYETTEVILLE -- Wayne Country Day launched its 2016 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference campaign with a 5-0 conquest of Freedom Christian Academy on Thursday afternoon.
Allison Bailey and first-year player Gianna Democko knocked in two goals apiece for the Chargers, who snapped a four-game skid. Ally Willman provided one goal.
Bailey and Jasmine Jones each had one assist.
"We dominated from start to finish tonight and deserved the result," WCDS head coach Steve Martin said. "I mixed a few things up as I knew we needed a physical presence to press the Freedom back line. It's a nice way to start conference play, and look to keep the momentum going into tomorrow's conference game."
WCDS plays host to Pope John Paul Catholic II today.
