SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek tallied a much-needed insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning and turned back James Kenan, 3-1, in a Carolina 1-A Conference game Wednesday evening.
The Gators (9-5 overall) extended their win streak to three and remained unbeaten in six conference outings this season.
Sawyer Smith limited the Tigers to an unearned run on three hits and logged three strikeouts in a complete-game effort. His offensive support came from Hunter Walker (1-for-3), Kaden Geelen (RBI) and Levi Miller.
Kenan senior Ken Avent III fired a two-hitter for the Tigers. He yielded two hits, walked four and retired three SC batters on strikeouts.
