Aycock dominates 3-team boys' track meet

NEW BERN -- Charles B. Aycock earned first-place finishes in seven different events and won a three-team Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference boys' track meet Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons claimed the top three spots in the triple jump -- John Rodriguez, Stepfon Smith and Corinthius Giles. Teammate Trevor Holt secured first place in the shot put (46 feet, 3 inches) and discus (124-6).
The foursome of David McIver, Micah Castillo, Josh Bailey and John Parrish turned in a meet-winning time of 3 minutes, 59 seconds in the 1,600 relay. McIver, Parrish, Deshawn Owens and Cameron Sims comprised the 3,200 relay that ended up first in 9:06.
Owens crossed the finish line first in the 1,600 run (5:02). Sims secured first in the 3,200 with a time of 11:13.
Aycock scored 88 points. The host Bears tallied 56, while Southern Wayne scored 28.
The Golden Falcons return action April 11 in the Wayne County Track and Field Championship meet at Rosewood High School. Field events begin approximately at 3 p.m.
