UMO's Ingram, a Rosewood alum, earns softball accolade

HIGH POINT -- University of Mount Olive sophomore catcher Anna Ingram has earned Conference Carolinas softball player-of-the-week accolades.
The Rosewood alum batted .368 with seven hits and seven RBI as the Trojans posted a 6-0 week on the diamond. She scored five runs and had a 2-for-4, two-RBI outing in a road win at Lees-McRae on Sunday.
UMO returns to action Saturday at home against Belmont Abbey.
Men's golf
Nick Adams ended up fifth individually and University of Mount Olive finished second in team competition during The Trojan contested on the Lane Tree Golf Club links.
Adams shot a three-day score of 218. Brady Hollenbacher shared sixth place at 222. Liam McAnnally carded a 223 that placed him among a pack of golfers in the top 10. Harry Bayley completed the Trojans' team score with a 226.
Mount Olive posted a 54-hole round of 889 -- 39 strokes behind tournament champion Newberry (S.C.) College.
The Trojans return to action April 17 in the season-ending Conference Carolinas championship.
Baseball
CATAWBA -- Zak Orrison, Stephen Wallace and Joe Koehler each belted a home run during the University of Mount Olive's 19-7 loss to in-state region foe Catawba College on Tuesday afternoon.
Koehler (two RBI), Brandon Day (two RBI) and Brett Lang (RBI) each provided two hits for the Trojans. Orrison, Wallace (RBI) and Derek Deler accounted for one hit apiece.
Josh Flott took the mound loss for Mount Olive, which used five pitchers in the mid-week non-conference affair. The quintet permitted 18 earned runs on 17 hits and six walks.
The Trojans (18-15 overall) return home this weekend for a Conference Carolinas series against King (Tenn.) University.
