WINTERVILLE -- Cameron Kornegay provided two hits and an RBI during Charles B. Aycock's 5-2 triumph over South Central in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday evening.
Ashton McGee, who has been selected as a 2016 Rawlings-PG All-American Preseason Underclassman, batted 1-for-1 with an RBI and drew three walks. Opposing pitchers have now issued 18 free passes to McGee this season.
Landon Casey (RBI), Chandler Gentry (RBI), Bryce Anders and Kyle Davis collected one hit apiece.
Davis improved to 5-0 on the hill with a complete-game outing. The Pitt Community College commit yielded two runs (one earned) on seven hits, walked one and retired five South Central batters on strikeouts.
"They scored one in the bottom of the sixth and Kyle gave up three hits in the seventh," CBA head coach Charles Davis said. "He was pretty much in control the whole game. We're very pleased with his outing. (Offensively) we did the necessary things we needed to do to win. We hit some balls hard, so I was pleased with our (plate) approaches."
Aycock (11-0 overall, 3-0 ECC) returns to action Saturday in the annual Golden Leaf Invitational. The Golden Falcons face Nash Central at 10 a.m. at venerable Fleming Stadium.
