MISENHEIMER -- Brett Kingston punched in the game-winning goal with three-plus minutes remaining as No. 7-ranked University of Mount Olive slipped past in-state rival Pfeiffer University, 10-8, during their Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse game Wednesday evening.

Jesse Mitchell's goal with 52 seconds sealed the outcome.

Pfeiffer, ranked No. 19 nationally, scored the game's first four goals and kept the advantage at halftime. UMO endured a 28-plus minute scoring drought until Matt Shields connected on a goal 66 seconds before halftime.

Down 6-5 in the third period, Kingston tied the game on Matthew Morris' assist. Nico Shewey converted a man-advantage goal to put the Trojans ahead 7-6. Pfeiffer answered with a game-tying goal.

The Falcons led 8-7 in the fourth quarter before Kingston scored consecutive goals, the second giving Mount Olive the lead for good. Kingston finished with a hat trick (three goals).
