Southampton (Va.) deals WCDS first loss of baseball season

Southampton (Va.) Academy benefited from nine errors and rallied past Wayne Country Day, 11-3, on day two of the annual Greenfield Invitational.
WCDS led 3-0 after two innings.
"Southampton kept playing and wanted it more," Chargers head coach Michael Taylor said. "(They) made every play and took advantage of our errors. No effort today."
John Strickland belted a home run and finished with two hits. Case Kermode contributed two hits. Mitch Turnage, Amane Godo and Drew Barnes provided one hit apiece.
WCDS has managed just nine hits in its last 13 innings of play.
Strickland endured the mound loss. He permitted four earned runs on eight hits, struck out five and walked three in 42/3 innings. Patrick Hall threw two-thirds of an inning. Kermode tossed the final 12/3 innings, and logged one strikeout.
The Chargers (3-1-1 overall) entertain Lawrence Academy on Thursday.
