PLAYOFFS: Rosewood girls crush Lejeune

Three-time defending Carolina Conference champion Rosewood opened the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A girls' basketball playoffs with an 81-35 thrashing of Lejeune on Tuesday evening.
The fourth-seeded Eagles (23-3 overall) return home Thursday to face Weldon. A tip-off time has not been announced.
Lexi Mercer logged 25 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Jala Holloman contributed 13 points, six assists and picked the Devilpups for two steals.
Alyssa Garrison posted 12 points and four steals. Tayzlie Tripple delivered a 10-point, seven-rebound outing.
In all, eight Eagles scratched in the scorebook. As a team, Rosewood had 28 steals and 21 assists on 33 made field goals.
