Senior night, stress free.
That's exactly what Wayne Country Day School experienced against Greenfield on Friday evening. Using a variety of speedy lineups, the Chargers upended their Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference archrival, 38-14, on Friday evening.
The outcome was academic from the outset.
WCDS played at a brisk pace from buzzer to buzzer, generated a disproportionate amount of Greenfield turnovers and made five 3-point baskets. The Chargers led 18-3 after one period and 28-5 at halftime.
Lillian Freeman led Wayne Country Day with 11 points. Senior Kaitlyn Daniels scored four points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Wayne Country Day, who finished 3-3 in the CPIC.
In all, eight Chargers saw playing time.
Kaelyn Wall and Anna Merritt Hauser contributed eight and five points, respectively, for the Knights who had just seven players suited up for the game.
Once the game ended, WCDS players grabbed gifts and presented them to the seniors prior to tip-off of the boys' varsity game.
