UMO freshman Rendon-Alcala breaks pair of school records

WINSTON-SALEM -- University of Mount Olive freshman Guillermo Rendon-Alcala broke two indoor track program records during second-day competition in the WSSU Rams Team Challenge.
Rendon-Alcala posted a time of 7.07 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 22.89 seconds in the 200 -- both school records. Teammate Cedric Thomas came close to setting school-record marks in the same two events.
Anthony Edwards recorded top-10 distances of 1.85 meters in the high jump and 6.85 meters in the long jump.
On the women's side, Tunisia Prince posted a mark of 5.39 meters in the long jump and ran a 26.44 in the 200. Ayanna King turned in a time of 8.10 seconds in the 60, while Paulina Kremling crossed the line in 5:26.97 during the mile run.
The Trojans return to Winston-Salem this weekend for the Camel City Invitational. The two-day event starts Friday at the JDL complex.
