JV football
* Greene Central 44, Goldsboro 32 -- Xavier Bowden rambled for 122 yards and scored all five touchdowns in the Cougars' loss at Cougar Stadium on Thursday evening. Bowden also ran in a two-point conversion and surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. Brody Morton finished 7 of 15 passing and added 30 yards rushing. Jabari Wilson emerged Goldsboro's defensive leader with 13 tackles, including four for loss yardage. Tilwann James contributed 12 tackles.
Middle schools
* Football: Mount Olive 32, Rosewood 14 -- Jamari Leach paced the Chargers' offense with three rushing touchdowns. Devonva Faison also ran for a TD. Ja'shon Pridgen pulled in a 60-yard scoring pass from Leach. Defensive leaders were Tyre West, Jeremiah Anderson, Austin Espinosa and Jalen Thompson. Mount Olive concluded regular-season play with a 6-2 record.
* Football: Grantham 34, Eastern Wayne 0 -- Mark Graham rushed for three touchdowns in the Bulldogs' shutout win. Xavious Speight and Demetric Wright combined for two touchdowns. Speight caught one of Wright's two-point conversion passes. Tayvon Callahan hauled in one two-point pass. Graham, Speight, Callahan and Kadarius Hall each recovered a fumble on defense. Grantham improved to 4-3 overall this season.
* Football: Norwayne 52, Brogden 18 -- Offensive leaders were Jaalin Applewhite, Xavier Eutsey, Omar Tucker and Alijuan Moore who accounted for the Cobras' scoring. Seth Shephard returned a fumble for a touchdown. Tucker picked off a Brogden pass, and Tyler Hughes led the Cobras in tackles. Norwayne (7-0 overall) travels to Dillard (7-0) next Thursday to determine the 2015 Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference football champion. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
