1A/2A state golf finals: Eagles' Burton 5th after 1st round

SOUTHERN PINES -- Rosewood senior Lindsey Burton finished fifth among 78 individuals after opening-round play of the 2015 N.C. High School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A championships Monday.
Burton shot an 82 on the Longleaf Golf and Country Club links.
Ellie Porman of Stuart Cramer is the overall leader at 4-over-par 72. West Davidson and Gray Stone Day share the team lead with identical three-player scores of 267.
The 36-hole event concludes today.
