Noah Adkins, Tony Townsend and Jacob Magera delivered two goals apiece as Wayne Country Day throttled Ahoskie Ridgecroft in mercy-rule fashion, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers' defense logged its third consecutive shutout and 12th of the season overall. WCDS has allowed just three goals over the last 480 minutes of play.
Luis Lopez, John Thompson and Matt Kierski each supplied one goal. Kris Cooley and Jack Talton each handed out two assists. Adkins, Lopez and Johnson each posted one assist.
"It was a good run out for us tonight," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "With not playing in over a week, it was a nice way to get back into the swing of it. We started well, but couldn't break through with the other team parking the bus in front of the goal. We stayed composed and got the break through (goal), and the flood gates opened after that.
"We scored some good goals and collectively moved the ball very well."
Wayne Country Day (15-2-1 overall) entertains long-time nemesis Greenfield on Thursday. Kickoff is 4:45 p.m. The Knights won the first meeting, 2-0.
