UMO Trojan women defeat Southern Wesleyan

MOUNT OLIVE -- Alex Wetherholt posted a goal and an assisted on Ellie Barnes' goal four minutes into the match as University of Mount Olive cruised past Southern Wesleyan University, 3-0, on the Conference Carolinas women's soccer scene Sunday afternoon.
Wetherholt scored in the 2nd minute. Christine Rocchio capped the Trojans' three-goal day in the 64th minute.
UMO goalie Stephanie McCoy recorded three saves.
The Trojans owned advantages in shots (18-5) and corner kicks (9-2).
Mount Olive (6-3-2 overall, 5-1-2 CC) returns home next Saturday for a senior day celebration against in-state league foe Lees-McRae. Ten seniors will be recognized prior to kickoff -- Rocchio Barnes, Kelsey Cirrito, Sydney Nelson, Hope Perry, Nichole Poppe, Lauren Power, Madison Robak, Madeline Russell and Jennifer Sickles.
Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Amon Field.
