Three consistent days of play maybe the answer for the Eastern Wayne Warriors.

Only time will tell.

After losing to Charles B. Aycock on Tuesday evening, the Warriors faced another county rival -- Southern Wayne -- but the patience and aggressiveness of the Saints proved too much for the young Warriors in a 5-2 loss on Wednesday.

Eastern Wayne plays host to South Central today.

"This is good for us because throughout the whole season, we haven't been able to get into a rhythm or any consistency," Warriors head coach Scott Summers said. "We have a game and then we don't have a game for another seven days. Having a consistent game-to-game (schedule), I think it is good for us.

"It might not be good for our legs, but for us to learn the game and keep moving forward will be good for us."

Saints senior midfielder Ulysses Ramirez assisted senior striker Nathan Martinez for the game's first goal. The Saints added three more goals -- two by sophomore midfielder Darwin Sure and one each by senior midfielder Oscar Ruiz and Ramirez.

Ruiz assisted Sure on one goal.

Junior captain Christian Anderson converted a free kick as the Warriors trailed 5-1 at halftime. With twenty minutes left in the second half, freshman Mason Britt assisted senior Ethan Quinn with the Warriors' second goal.

Southern Wayne head coach Mario Aguilar referred to Eastern Wayne as "hungry" after seeing his team go scoreless in the second half.

"They (Warriors) made a press at us in the second half," said Aguilar, whose team travels to New Bern today. "Matter of fact, they controlled the entire game. They (Saints) got good patience. I tell them, 'you don't have to play individually, but play with the team'."

As for Eastern Wayne, it needs to build off of its second-half performance heading into today's home game.

"I think we did a lot better job in putting in that fight in the second half," Summers said. "It's great for them to see that. Now going in the next games, they know what we're looking for."
