PREPS DIGEST -- JV, middle schools

JV

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. James Kenan 25-8, 25-16 -- Braylee Butts had one kill, six assists and three aces during the Eagles' straight-set win. Toree Marak had one kill, two assists, one block and one ace. Maddie Honn (2 kills, 1 ace), Demetria Percival (1 kill, 1 ace) and Jala Holloman (4 kills, 4 aces) also contributed to Rosewood's sixth win in Carolina 1-A Conference play this season. The Eagles improved to 9-6 overall.

* Volleyball: South Lenoir d. North Lenoir 2-1 -- Talaysia Evans and Alyssa Brinkley had four kills apiece for the Hawks.

* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Pope John Paul II Catholic HS 25-15, 20-25, 25-17 -- Cate Eagles served five aces, collected two digs and passed out four assists. Jaden DisDier contributed four aces, two kills and three digs. Madison Britton had three aces, two kills and two digs. Graysen Jeffreys registered three aces and two digs. Summer Daniels (2 aces, 2 kills), Katie Strickland (2 aces, 2 digs, 3 assists) and Lexi Jeffreys (5 kills, 2 digs) also helped the Chargers climb to 3-1 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play this season. Wayne Country Day (6-8 overall) visits Freedom Christian on Oct. 13.

* Volleyball: Greene Central d. Goldsboro 21-25, 25-19, 25-9 -- Nikki Olmsted registered four kills and served five aces in the Cougars' road loss. Jennifer Carrroll contributed five aces and Fayth Serlick posted 10 digs on defense.

* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Southern Wayne 25-6, 25-23 -- Statistics were not submitted to the News-Argus.

* Volleyball: Princeton d. Hobbton 25-14, 25-14 -- Princeton improved to 10-5 overall and 8-1 in Carolina 1-A Conference play this season.

Middle schools

* Boys' soccer: Norwayne 3, Eastern Wayne 1 -- Cobras improved to 3-2-2 overall and travel to Wayne School of Engineering on Monday.

* Football: Mount Olive 44, Brogden 6 -- Davonza Faison led the Chargers' offense with two touchdowns. Jeremiah Anderson and Jamari Leach each added a rushing TD. Leach also returned a kickoff 80 yards to the house. Ja'shon Pridgen hauled in a 60-yard TD reception. Defensive leaders were Faison, Anderson and Shyheem Campbell. Mount Olive (3-1 overall) visits Greenwood next Thursday.
