* Volleyball: South Central d. Eastern Wayne 25-5, 25-14 -- Demiya Yelverton led the Warriors with three kills. Teammate Alyssa Jackson contributed two kills and two assists.
* Volleyball: New Bern d. Southern Wayne 27-25, 25-16 -- First-year Saints head coach Sarah Robertson said missed serves at critical points led to the straight-set loss. She cited Mackenzie Bryan and Caroline Summerlin for strong play at the net.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Grantham 25-15, 25-8, 22-25, 25-12 -- Sydney Reiss served six aces in the Eagles' four-set win. Rosewood (5-3 overall) plays a doubleheader at Mount Olive next Monday.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Mount Olive 25-11, 25-6, 25-11 -- Amanda Haggerty and Virginia Edmondson emerged as the Gators' offensive leaders. Spring Creek (7-1 overall) plays host to Dillard on Monday.
