Wayne Christian boys, WCDS girls win respective portions of cross country meet

Nicolas Toner crossed the line in 22 minutes, 59 seconds and helped Wayne Christian claim a four-team meet contested at historic Waynesborough Park.
Toner's third-place time along with Thomas Donica's fifth-place finish (23:21) and Eli Winders seventh-place showing (24:14) allowed the Eagles to edge Wilson Christian, 15-16, in the team portion of the event.
Wayne Country Day placed third with 20 points, followed by Lee Christian with 38.
Zan Pittman paced WCDS with a fourth-place time of 23:10. Teammates Suraj Patel (23:56) and Case Kermode (24:32) wound up sixth and 10th, respectively.
On the girls' side, Wayne Christian's Paige Court emerged as the top individual in 25:34.
Wayne Country Day secured three of the top five spots. Janae Jones ran the 5k course (3.1 miles) in 25:59. Teammate Abby Skinner ended up third in 26:02, while Gray Young crossed the line fifth in 26:47.
WCDS won the team portion with seven points, followed by Wilson Christian (14) and Lee Christian (35).
