Burton earns medalist honors

Rosewood senior Lindsey Burton earned medalist honors with a 2-over 38 during a four-team, non-conference match contested at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.
Charles B. Aycock's tandem of Abby Sauls (42) and Leah Campbell (49) finished second and third, respectively. Anna Williams fired a 56. The duo helped the Golden Falcons post the low team score of 147 -- 11 strokes better than Rosewood.
North Johnston (159) and Wayne Christian (167) completed the team scoring.
Goldsboro's Helen Keck and North Johnston's Caroline Baker shared fourth place individually with identical nine-hole rounds of 51.
Laura Kim emerged as Wayne Christian's leader with a 56. Teammates Kelsey Saunders and Brianna Verme each shot a 57. Grace Buddin added a 59, while Cassidy Davis shot a 61.
Rosewood and Aycock return to action Thursday for a four-team meet at Lane Tree Golf Club. The county rivals will face Cleveland and Smithfield-Selma.
