Volleyball
Princeton 3, Bunn 1
* BUNN -- Daisey Eklund recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 11 blocks as defending 1-A state champion Princeton handed Bunn a 25-15, 22-25, 25-9, 26-24 loss in the season-opening match for both teams.
Eklund also served six aces.
Taylor Carroll and Emily Ricks each contributed nine kills. Hailey Wood supplied four blocks and three aces.
The Bulldogs (1-0 overall) entertain South Johnston on Thursday.
North Lenior 3, North Pitt 0
* Allyson Heath dished out 29 assists during North Lenoir's 25-17, 25-20, 25-16, non-conference triumph over North Pitt.
Mya Parks and Paige Sports recorded 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Laura Haerer contributed seven kills and three blocks.
The Hawks improved to 2-0 overall this season.
Hobbton 3, Goldsboro 0
* NEWTON GROVE -- Beckard Pittard cranked out a team-high nine kills during Goldsboro's 22-25, 22-25, 23-25 non-conference loss against Hobbton on Wednesday afternoon.
Kaylee Lyon served five aces.
The Cougars (0-3 overall) travel to North Johnston next Tuesday.
Boys' soccer
C.B. Aycock 5, Goldsboro 1
* PIKEVILLE -- The freshman tandem of Leo Carcomo and Oscar Carcamo combined for three goals during Charles B. Aycock's 5-1, non-conference triumph over Goldsboro on Tuesday afternoon.
CBA improved to 46-11-4 against county opposition since 2006.
Freshman David McIver and senior Dallen Edwards each tallied one goal. Coe Jordan dished out three assists. Oscar Carcamo and Edwards passed out on assist apiece.
Mickey Eovine notched the Cougars' lone goal on assist from senior Jonathan Stevens. Goldsboro keeper Cameron Roux logged eight saves between the pipes.
Weather permitting, the Golden Falcons (2-0-0 overall) play host to 2014 Carolina 1-A Conference champion Spring Creek today. Kickoff is 6 p.m. on the Hardy Talton Stadium pitch.
Meanwhile, the Cougars (1-1-0) entertain Rosewood next Monday.
JV sports
* Volleyball: Princeton d. Bunn 25-18, 26-24 -- The Bulldogs opened their season with a straight-set sweep of the Wildcats. Game details were not available. Princeton (1-0 overall) entertains South Johnston today.
* Volleyball: Hobbton d. Goldsboro 27-25, 25-17 -- Jennifer Carroll served five aces for the Cougars.
