* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Cape Fear Academy 25-22, 25-15 -- Kyara Drew led the victorious Chargers with four service aces, three kills and one dig. Jaden DisDier contributed four aces and two kills Madison Britton served a pair of aces. Katie Strickland and Cate Eagles combined for two aces and five assists. WCDS (1-0 overall) entertains Oakwood on Thursday.
* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Greene Central 23-25, 25-23, 25-23 -- Kayla Acorn dished out a team-leading 20 assists, while Naomi Williams had 14 assists. Diana Avilla posted five kills. Alana Kazar served seven aces. Libero Demya Yelverton led the defense with eight digs. The Warriors improved to 2-0 overall this season.
* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 9, Faith Christian-RM 0 -- Frank Best registered a hat trick (three goals) and dished out an assist during the Chargers' season-opening, mercy-rule win. Nehemiya Shaw added two goals and two assists. Drew Barnes supplied one goal and two assists. Marquise Newell (one goal, one assist), Rahul Patel (goal) and Will McDonald (goal) also got into the scoring act. The Chargers (1-0-0 overall) travel to Oakwood on Thursday.
* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Goldsboro 25-15, 25-13 -- Junior setter Kayla Acorn led the Warriors with three kills and six assists. Teammate Rachel Stratton, a junior middle hitter, supplied two aces and two kills.
