Perennial power Rocky Mount tops C.B. Aycock in tennis

PIKEVILLE -- Sabrina Johnson and Meredith Jones each earned a singles point during Charles B. Aycock's 7-2, non-conference loss to perennial 3-A power Rocky Mount on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson, the No. 4 seed, turned back Mary Blair Thompson 6-3, 6-1. The fifth-seeded Jones dropped the middle set and rallied to defeat Grace Warner 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
"Our girls didn't go down without a fight," first-year Golden Falcons head coach Gene Stancil said.
CBA dropped to 1-1 on the season.
