ECBL: Spring Creek edges Bethel Christian, 7-6

KINSTON -- Matt Dupuy recorded the game's final out and earned the save as Spring Creek slipped past Bethel Christian, 7-6, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League game Monday evening.
Landon Smothers emerged as the winning pitcher for the Gators. He allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits, walked one and struck out three Bethel batters in 62/3 innings.
Casey Whitfield paced Spring Creek's offense with two hits and an RBI. Will Rouse added a double. The Gators had just three hits in the game, but capitalized on eight walks, a hit batsman and four Bethel errors.
Spring Creek (2-2 overall) returns to action Monday at Faith Christian.
